But I Don't Want Lemonade!

Whenever my life decides to take sharp turn to the left someone always tells me, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." I know they mean well and I usually give them a small smile back, but inside I just want to scream. "I don't like lemonade."
Lemonade is made by taking a very bitter fruit and mixing it with sugar and water to try to make a drinkable substance. It may start of tasting sweet but by the end of the glass you realize that the sweetness is just covering up the bitterness - which always reappears at the end. If you are the type of person that enjoys sour things then this is fine. I'm not that person.
So by telling people to "make lemonade" are we really saying to cover up our problems and deal with them later - when they come back to bite us?
The last few weeks have been a torrential down pouring of surprises and issues. I'm not going to bore you with the details. Needless to say it's been a long few weeks of people reminding me to make lemonade. Instead I would rather take the lemons and find a way to make them work for me. Use their natural acidity to cook something truly delicious with.
Ignoring the problem, or procrastinating will never be the answer to truly solving a problem.
