Tim is heading out on Sunday to San Diego. He goes to several conferences a year as part of his volunteer activities. I call them volunteer because the company he works for needs him there but refuses to pay him for his work. He has 3 unpaid volunteer positions which take up a lot of his time. They are more like full time jobs. I can't say what those activities are because it would impact his company if people knew that they were using volunteers, instead of paid employees, to do those tasks.
In addition to these volunteer jobs he is a member of the Honor Guard, a Fire Keeper and very active in the tribe's annual pow-wow. He is also on call 24/7 at the job that he is actually paid to do. He works with computers and when they stop working, regardless of the day or time, he's expected to fix them.
Because of all the commitments we haven't been able to take a vacation in 12 years. It's been hard but we have finally said enough is enough and plan on taking a week later this year to do something as a family. I'm not sure it will happen, but I can always hope.
