In the Mood

"I'm in a mood. You have been warned."

Some of you read this and thing that this post will be an angry rant. Others are laughing and waiting for some humorous story. A select few may be concerned for my well being.

Tone of voice is determined by the reader - not the writer. - Tweet this.

When you read this post you don't have the benefit of seeing my face or hearing my voice. You, as the reader, must use the rest of the post and surrounding statements to determine the tone of the statement.

This is something that a lot of people struggle with. New bloggers in particular often struggle with their words coming across in a manner that was not intended because they try to incorporate sarcasm without clearly defining the satire.

One way to ensure that readers understand the tone is to avoid sarcasm. If you prefer to use it then make sure to clearly identify your intent so that you don't upset your reader's unintentionally.
